About the Event
I'm so excited to welcome you to Chubtown Country Retreat this year for our annual picnic. Â Big thank you to one of our Ballroom dancers, Shelley for offering up her beautiful property on Ritson Rd north for our end of summer picnic.
Historically this event has been a delicious potluck, but I'm not quite comfortable with that format just yet. Â We'll repeat what we did last year and have everyone pack their own lunch. Â If you would like to bring an alcoholic beverage, feel free to do so (as this is private property, no liquor license is required) however, Â Â ***Please drink responsibly and/or have a designated driver appointed for the ride home***.
The property has a short meandering trail, a pig, a couple of goats and some chickens. Â You can walk the trail, dine in the barn, under the gazebo, in the lookout canopy or wherever you feel comfortable. Â I will provide coffee and tea for the afternoon. Â There is also a large deck if we want to do a little line dancing so I'll bring my music along.
Above all else, this is an afternoon to just relax, laugh and enjoy each others company.
The bugs should have subsided by then but be sure to pack your bug spray just in case!
How to find it: Â Whether you are coming from Ajax, Pickering, Whitby, Oshawa or Bowmanville, your first priority is to get to Ritson. Â Personally I like to go straight to Highway 7 (or Winchester as they call it up there) and then across to Ritson. Â Whichever way you come, most of you will head north on Ritson at some point unless you are coming from Port Perry. Â There are 2 driveways into the property on your right hand side as soon as you go under the 407 overpass. Â Each entrance is flanked by tiger lillies. Â Either entrance is good and someone will direct you where you should park once you arrive.Â
We don't want anyone left out so, if you need a ride, please put it in the discussion in the group or let me know. Â See you at Chubtown!
